Functions & Accomplishments
Following areas have been identified as the core functions for Quality Enhancement at DUHS:
Program Evaluation is done through Self Assessment. All the degree programs are being offered at the University are required to prepare a SELF ASSESSMENT REPORT on the basis of the criteria prescribed by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
YEAR WISE SAR ACCOMPLISHMENT RECORD OF QEC DUHS
“Teacher Evaluation” is conducted with regular frequency for each program at Dow University of Health Sciences. Some programs have already done it for number of cycles and some have scheduled the same.
The process of evaluating teaching is carried out through the Quality Enhancement Cell of DUHS and it is according to the method prescribed by HEC (Proforma 10, SAR Feedback Form).
Teachers’ evaluation is done at multi levels:
Through Teachers’ portfolios
The latest feedback results of Teachers’ Evaluation at each institute are correlated with previous feedback results for quality improvements. These results are further compared with the next evaluation.
Institutional Academic Audit:
This program focuses on the internal academic audit of different programs and departments. This provides a useful feedback to the external audit program of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan. On the direction of the Vice Chancellor, DUHS, QEC conduct the institutional Academic Audit to review the mechanisms for monitoring and enhancing the academic quality and standards which are necessary for achieving their stated aims and objectives, and to comment on the extent to which procedures in place are applied effectively and reflect good practice in maintaining quality. The academic audit focuses on teaching quality, program delivery, and the achievement of learning outcomes.

Training and Development:
This program focuses on the training needs of the faculty and provides them with forums and channels for the enhancement of professional skills.
Standards in Educational Provisions:
Quality Enhancement Cell realizes that not only teaching but other educational entities also, such as digital library, regular library, professional development programs, guest lectures and seminars and other scholarly facilities or activities must keep a standard meeting the satisfaction level of the stakeholders. This program focuses on the evaluation of such educational provisions and prepares a report on annual basis.
This program focuses on identifying areas where international collaboration may be established. This will help faculty as well as administration to update their current practices with the help of international scenario.

QEC DUHS arranged two (02) days awareness / training sessions on the Preparation of Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for all faculty program team members on 13-14th April, 2016.
QEC DUHS, in collaboration with PIQC, conducted Internal Quality Audit (IQA) of Dow University of Health Sciences from 28th March to 9th April 2016 of all the ISO certified 9001:2008 teaching and support Departments of DUHS.
The QEC DUHS in collaboration with PIQC arranged a workshop session for the QMS coordinators and the internal auditors on Quality Management System based on ISO 9001: 2008 Standards on 05 March 2016, at Professor Masood Hameed Library block, Ojha campus DUHS.
The QEC DUHS in collaboration with PIQC arranged an awareness session for the QMS coordinators and the internal auditors on Quality Management System based on ISO 9001: 2008 Standards on 10th February 2016, at Ojha campus DUHS.
The QEC DUHS arranged a training session for the QMS coordinators and the internal auditors on internal Quality Auditing based on ISO 9001:2008 on 11th February 2016, at Ojha campus DUHS.
QEC organized review meeting on Annual Surveillance Audit Findings 2015 on 1st & 2nd Feb 2016. Vice Chancellor DUHS chaired the meetings, PIQC consultants, QEC team, and all Heads / Directors / QMS coordinators attended the session.
QEC, DUHS officials facilitated the Higher Education Commission’s Review panel on Prime Minister directives, on 27th January 2016.
Deputy Director and Assistant Director QEC, DUHS attended the seminar on “Lean Six Sigma Way to Academic Excellence in Developing and Emerging Markets” at Indus University, Karachi on November 28, 2015.
Surveillance Audit of DUHS was conducted from 10th to 14th November 2015, Prof. Dr. Rana Qamar, Director QEC was nominated as focal person for the Surveillance Audit. She smoothly facilitated the consultant regarding all queries.
QEC DUHS arranged and organized Board of Review Meeting at DUHS level. Prof. Dr. Masroor, ProVice Chancellor DUHS chaired the meeting, PIQC consultants, QEC team, and all Heads / Directors / QMS coordinators attended the meeting.
QEC DUHS, in collaboration with PIQC, conducted internal Quality Audit (IQA) of Dow University of Health Sciences from 9th October to 29th October 2015 of all the ISO certified 9001:2008 teaching and support Departments of DUHS.
Ms. Shehla Naz, Assistant Director QEC, cleared the Certification Course entitled "Certified Healthcare Quality Professional", jointly organized by the PIQC Institute of Quality & Institute of Health Management, DUHS, dated October 2015.
QEC officials attended a seminar on "Developing a Systematic Internal Quality Assurance System" by Dr Muhammad Abdul Wahid Usmani at HEC Regional Center Karachi, organized by Indus University, Karachi on August 13th 2015.
