Functions & Accomplishments
Following areas have been identified as the core functions for Quality Enhancement at DUHS:

  • Programme Evaluation:

  • Program Evaluation is done through Self Assessment. All the degree programs are being offered at the University are required to prepare a SELF ASSESSMENT REPORT on the basis of the criteria prescribed by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.


  • YEAR WISE SAR ACCOMPLISHMENT RECORD OF QEC DUHS

    • Teacher Evaluation

    • “Teacher Evaluation” is conducted with regular frequency for each program at Dow University of Health Sciences. Some programs have already done it for number of cycles and some have scheduled the same. The process of evaluating teaching is carried out through the Quality Enhancement Cell of DUHS and it is according to the method prescribed by HEC (Proforma 10, SAR Feedback Form).

      Teachers’ evaluation is done at multi levels:
      • Through Students
      • Through Peer
      • Through HoD
      • Through Teachers’ portfolios

    • The latest feedback results of Teachers’ Evaluation at each institute are correlated with previous feedback results for quality improvements. These results are further compared with the next evaluation.

    • Institutional Academic Audit:

    • This program focuses on the internal academic audit of different programs and departments. This provides a useful feedback to the external audit program of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan. On the direction of the Vice Chancellor, DUHS, QEC conduct the institutional Academic Audit to review the mechanisms for monitoring and enhancing the academic quality and standards which are necessary for achieving their stated aims and objectives, and to comment on the extent to which procedures in place are applied effectively and reflect good practice in maintaining quality. The academic audit focuses on teaching quality, program delivery, and the achievement of learning outcomes.

    • Achievement and progress:

    • So far QEC has conducted academic audits of the following institutions:
      • Institute of Health Management
      • Institute of Nursing
      • Dow College of Pharmacy
    • Training and Development:

    • This program focuses on the training needs of the faculty and provides them with forums and channels for the enhancement of professional skills.
    • Standards in Educational Provisions:

    • Quality Enhancement Cell realizes that not only teaching but other educational entities also, such as digital library, regular library, professional development programs, guest lectures and seminars and other scholarly facilities or activities must keep a standard meeting the satisfaction level of the stakeholders. This program focuses on the evaluation of such educational provisions and prepares a report on annual basis.

    • International Collaboration:

    • This program focuses on identifying areas where international collaboration may be established. This will help faculty as well as administration to update their current practices with the help of international scenario.

     The QEC-DUHS, conducted SAR training session on 31st January,2017 at Professor Masood Hameed Library block, Ojha campus DUHS, on the 8 criteria of the Self- Assessment Report for all the concerned Program Team members.

     The QEC-DUHS, conducted SAR training session on 4th February, 2017 at Professor Masood Hameed Library block, Ojha campus DUHS, on the 8 criteria of the Self- Assessment Report for all the concerned Program Team members.

     Director QEC-DUHS, and the QEC officials attended 3 Days Training session organized by HEC in collaboration with Institute of Management Sciences, KPK for "CAPACITY BUILDING OF FACULTY & STAFF OF HEIs" held on 25 April to 27 April, 2017 at Mehran Hotel Karachi.

     QEC-DUHS officials attended a Seminar on "Sharing knowledge" and participation at Indus University on the World Quality Day. Deputy Director QEC-DUHS gave a presentation on Quality Assurance & Enhancement in HEC (comparative Review).

     QEC-DUHS facilitated the training session for the Ph.D Supervisors, Dr. Mohsin Wahid & Dr.Saeed Khan of DUHS for "Training on PhD Student Supervision" organized by HEC in collaboration with Institute of Management Sciences, KPK, held on 28th April, 2017 to 29th April, 2017 at Mehran Hotel Karachi.

     QEC-DUHS facilitated the training session for the procurement officers Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Mr. Muhammad Atif, Mr.Fahad Ali Khan and Mr. Arsalan Khan of DUHS attended the training session organized by HEC in collaboration with Institute of Management Sciences, KPK, held on 2nd May, 2017 to 4th May, 2017 at Mehran Hotel Karachi.

     The Quality Enhancement Cell-DUHS arranged an awareness workshop for the faculty of DMC campus of Dow University of Health Sciences on 27th September, 2017.The title of the workshop was "What is Plagiarism and how to avoid it?", and was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Sameer Qureshi, HEC focal person at DUHS for Plagiarism and Turnitin Software.

     The Quality Enhancement Cell, DUHS has arranged a series of English Language Proficiency workshops, commenced from 12th August, 2017 for training & development of administrative staff at Dow University of Health Sciences. The title of the workshops is "English at workplace". These workshops are designed for professionals at all levels working in diverse job descriptions. It caters to their functional skills of English Language in both spoken and written contexts. These workshops provides a working knowledge of language proficiency, enabling administrative staff to achieve higher levels of communicative competence. These workshops are designed & conducted by Mr. Faisal Dada.

     Plagiarism Awareness Workshop-Organized by QEC. The Higher Education Commission is using two pronged approach to address Plagiarism in Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan - Implementation of Plagiarism Policy, and - Use of Turnitin to detect plagiarism and develop writing skills The Quality Enhancement Cell-DUHS arranged an awareness workshop for the faculty of DMC Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences on 27th September, 2017 at Arag Auditorium. The title of the workshop was "What is Plagiarism and how to avoid it?" conducted by Dr. Mohammad Sameer Qureshi, HEC focal person at DUHS for Plagiarism and Turnitin Software. The roadmap to Plagiarism Prevention was discussed in the workshop which includes Prevention, Detection, Investigation and Punishment for plagiarism.
