Introduction |
Quality of teaching and learning in the higher education institution of Pakistan has been under a great criticism for long. The emergence of private institutions and their mushroom like growth is the result of declining confidence of a common man on the public sector universities in Pakistan. Keeping this fact in view, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan established Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in Islamabad and 10 Quality Enhancement Cells (QEC) at various public sector universities in Pakistan. It was also decided to establish QEC in all the public sector universities in the next phase of the programme. DOW UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, realizing the importance of this cell, decided to establish it in the university in 2006 for enhancing quality of teaching and learning of various programmes of the university. Later, HEC also included the name of Dow in the 2nd phase of the QEC establishment programmes. The cell has started functioning and a road map has been identified.
Mr. Abdul Wahid Usmani has been appointed to head the cell. He has extensive experience in designing and conducting training programmes for various universities and institutions. He has completed his PhD in Assessment and has conducted several Academic Audit programmes. |
